Golden Bears Win in Glorious Fashion
The Golden Bears had to overcome a good performance from Long Beach State pitcher Matt Connors to claim a 2-1 win at Prisoners Ballpark. Connors went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. California reliever Adam Meents picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Brian Purdy shouldered the loss. The Golden Bears have an impressive 7-3 record.

The Golden Bears got a big at-bat from catcher Brandon Russo. For the game, Russo went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the 12th, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave California a 2-1 lead.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Russo. "And not try to do too much."
