Victory Pushes Buckeyes Record to 7-3
|
The Ohio State Buckeyes stymied the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 6-2, at Ballpark of Bloomfield College. Jonathan Bertone, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Ohio State. Ohio State starter Zachary Royster was credited with the win after throwing 82 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Eric Haft earned the save, his 1st, for the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes got a big at-bat from first baseman Ron Davis. For the game, Davis was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Ohio State a 3-0 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Davis told the Ohio State Herald. "It's as simple as that."
The Buckeyes have an impressive 7-3 record.
