Long Beach State right fielder Jason Rizzo made his presence felt in the 5-4 49'ers triumph over the Rice Owls. Rizzo was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. Ben Jeffcoat saved it for Long Beach State. With the loss, Rice falls to 5-4.

The 49'ers got a big at-bat from first baseman Chase Hoene. For the game, Hoene went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 12th hit of the season gave Long Beach State a 4-3 lead.
