Cougars Come Up Short at Stanford
|
The Stanford Cardinals picked up a win at Surfers Ballpark, knocking off the Houston Cougars, 5-4. Starting pitcher Steve Osborne played a key role in the triumph. Stanford reliever Josh Shearer picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jesus Martinez suffered the loss. Davin Craney nailed down his 1st save.
Stanford took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, center fielder Josh Kaseman hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"I felt good up there," said Kaseman. "I saw the ball well."
With their winning streak at 4, the Cardinals have raced to a strong start this season.
