Shimizu Delivers Walk-Off Win for Islanders
|
The Hawaii Islanders faced a tough opponent in Seattle pitcher Jun Nakayama, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Aloha Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Nakayama went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Hawaii reliever Joe Good was the winner. His record is now 1-2. Hisataro Sato took the loss. The Islanders bumped their record to 40-29 with this latest triumph.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Hawaii shortstop Katsuhiko Shimizu, facing Hisataro Sato, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Islanders the 5-4 win.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Shimizu told reporters after the game.
