Black Knights Get Past Portland for 3-2 Win
|
The Brooklyn Black Knights and Portland Beavers played an exciting game at Waterfront Park.
The Brooklyn Black Knights faced a tough opponent in Portland pitcher Yoshiaki Kojima, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Waterfront Park by a final score of 3-2. Kojima went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Ji-hwan Yea earned save number 21.
Had Toshikasu Okuda not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Okuda hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Black Knights.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Okuda told reporters after the game.
Their 37-27 record puts the Black Knights third in the Roberto Clemente League William Atteberry Division.
