Weseman Slugs Owls to 8-1 Win
|
The Rice Owls defeated the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 8-1, in Rod Dedeaux League action at Toughkenamon College Fields, with Rice first baseman Justin Weseman named player of the game. Paul Lucas, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 1 hit, while walking 3 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 2-0. Jimmy Pennington finished to wrap up his 1st save.
The tide might have turned with two out in the top of the third, had not Paul Lucas made a big pitch. With the bases loaded and the Titans trailing 3-0, he retired Vince Fest, who flied out.
