Fans who came to Biglerville College Fields watched the Virginia Cavaliers and the Oklahoma Sooners fight to the finish.

The Virginia Cavaliers had to overcome a big game from Oklahoma first baseman Joe Neel to leave Biglerville College Fields with a 8-7 victory. Neel was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Andrew Welborn was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.

It could have been a different outcome for Virginia, had it not been for Eric Kilpatrick, the 21-year old right fielder . Kilpatrick contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second inning to put Virginia up, 2-0.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Kilpatrick said.

The Cavaliers, now 5-2, have been on a roll in the early going.
