Hollander Goes Wild, But Cougars Win
|
Jason Hollander had a good game, but he could not keep the TCU Horned Frogs from falling, 8-7, to the Houston Cougars at Suns Ballpark. The TCU third baseman was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 in the loss. The winner was Houston reliever Eric Bogen, now 2-0. The loser was Josh Donovan. Andre McNeal earned save number 2.
Jeremy Gilbertson was 1-4 for Houston. The 21-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Josh Donovan. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Houston manager Cisco Sánchez.
Houston goes to 5-1 with the win.
