Anson Helps Baylor Outscore Mississippi State
The Baylor Bears grabbed a 20-17 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Wolverines Stadium. Baylor left fielder Bryan Anson went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 5 times and driving in 4 to earn player of the game honors. The winner was Justin Whitling in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Kyle Love took the loss. Ben Mucherino was credited with the save for Baylor, his 1st of the season.

Had Bill Henson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Henson hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 20-17, in favor of the Bears.

"We'll savor this win," Henson told the Baylor Citizen, "then get ready for the next game."

The Bulldogs, now 3-3, have been pitiful so far.
