Benefiting from Sam Edgell's productive game, the Florida Gators downed the South Illinois Salukis, 8-4. Edgell was 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Gators. Florida reliever Scott Scott picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Brandon Roberts was saddled with the loss. Florida goes to 4-2 with the win.

Edgell had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-1 changeup from Brandon Roberts, he banged a 2-run triple to right-center, giving the Gators a 5-4 lead. It was the 1st triple of the year for Edgell.

In postgame comments, Edgell told the Florida Herald: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
