Trojans Prevail, 7-6, Over Cal State Fullerton
|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Marty Schellenger, the USC Trojans defeated the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 7-6. Schellenger went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Trojans. USC reliever Rich Shear was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Pat Knecht took the loss for Cal State Fullerton. USC, now 3-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
USC grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Schellenger hit a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season put the Trojans out in front, 2-0.
Schellenger told a USC Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
