Sibert Excels, But Golden Bears Win
James Sibert had a good game, but he could not keep the Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns from falling, 9-8, to the California Golden Bears at Field of the Dukes. The Louisiana-Layfayette designated hitter was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 in the loss. California reliever Bryson Griffis was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Dave Gaspard took the loss for Louisiana-Layfayette. Donald Barron finished to wrap up his 2nd save.

Brandon Russo aided the California cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth. For the game, the catcher went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said California manager Kevin Young.

California goes to 3-1 with the win.
