Georgia beat Oklahoma State at Canaries Ballpark, eking out a 8-7 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Tim Bogle, who earned player of the game honors. Bogle, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 2 walks. A.J. Schneider recorded the save for Georgia, his 1st of the season.
Ryan Gooch, who is the top prospect in the Bulldogs organization, chipped in for Georgia with a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
In comments to the Georgia Daily, Gooch admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The Bulldogs, with only their 1st win in 4 games, have not had much to write home about in 2034.
