California third baseman Ian Hoover had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 10-2 win over the Baylor Bears. California, now 2-1, has played well in the early going.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the fourth, with the game tied, Anthony Worthey was at the plate when California scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Golden Bears to go in front, 3-1.

"We looked pretty good up and down," said California manager Kevin Young.
