Sooners Lose, 2-1, at Ballpark of Barrow College
Crowds lined up early in front of Ballpark of Barrow College, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2034 USA NCAA DIVISION I season. On the mound was Kyle Larson for the visiting Oklahoma Sooners and John Cox for the hometown Vanderbilt Commodores. In a spirited contest, the Commodores pulled out the win, defeating the Sooners by the score of 2-1. Earning player of the game honors was Kyle Larson. Jimmy Gregus picked up the save for Vanderbilt, his 1st of the year.

Had Dustin Stumpf not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Stumpf hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Commodores.

Stumpf called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
