Esser Goes Wild, But Bombers Win
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes got a superb performance from center fielder Wladimir Esser. Still, it wasn't enough to beat South Carolina. The Bombers won the game, 9-8. In spite of the loss, Esser was named the player of the game. He was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. South Carolina has now won 3 straight, while the Earthquakes have lost 3 in a row.
Jesús Dela, who is a three-time All-Star, aided the South Carolina cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"This game had a little bit of everything," said Dela.
