Sun Devils Lose, 3-0, at Crowley College Grounds
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Mississippi State Bulldogs were eager to watch Frank Gentry square off against Bill Rankin of the visiting Arizona State Sun Devils. In the end, the Bulldogs won the game, 3-0, with Frank Gentry earning player of the game honors. Gentry got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. Gentry allowed no earned runs.
Earl Seyfried chipped in for Mississippi State with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
Gentry said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
