Saints Slip Past Coney Island, 4-3
|
St. Paul and Coney Island duked it out at Coney Island Coliseum and the Saints came out victorious.
The Coney Island Cyclones got a superb performance from pitcher Francisco Trevino. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Paul. The Saints won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Trevino was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. St. Paul reliever Konrad Dortmans picked up the win, upping his record to 12-9. Tommy Eggleston shouldered the loss. Sadao Matsunaga notched his 6th save in 9 chances.
The Saints got a big at-bat from first baseman Seung-kab Choi. For the game, Choi went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the 11th, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 20th home run of the season gave St. Paul a 4-3 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Choi.
St. Paul now sits in 5th place in the Lyman Bostock League Dick Williams Division at 74-85.
