Mustangs Slip Past Winfield, 3-2
The San Angelo Mustangs did just enough to sneak past the Winfield Warriors, 3-2, at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. San Angelo pitcher Dan Garcia earned player of the game honors. The first-place Mustangs, at 101-57, now lead their division by 10½ games.

The Mustangs got a big at-bat from center fielder Barry Wirfel. For the game, Wirfel was 1-4. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 60th hit of the season gave San Angelo a 3-2 lead.

"We had a chance to win," said Winfield manager Eric Stone, "but we didn't get it done."
