Pelicans Stymie Taos, Take 5-1 Win
|
St. Petersburg Pelicans starter Victor Dominguez was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Taos Blizzard, 5-1. Dominguez, the winner, moves to 5-6. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 5 walks. Kelly Livingston was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 28 save opportunities.
Danny Solis had a big 2-run single for the Pelicans in the bottom of the fourth inning. With St. Petersburg leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Eddy Aguilar and stroked the single to left-center. It was his 29th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pelicans ahead, 3-0.
Dominguez called the win "a collective effort."
St. Petersburg is now 59-97, Taos 75-81.
