Knights Prevail, 7-5, Over Coney Island
|
Knights first baseman Mike Stacy put his stamp on his team's 7-5 win over the Coney Island Cyclones. Stacy went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk for Kingwood in the contest. Domingo Rueda got the save, his 6th in 7 chances. With the win, the Knights improved to 76-79.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fifth inning when the Knights sent teenager Manny de la Cruz to the plate against Cyclones hurler Ken Pierce. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 0-1 fastball to score 1.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Stacy told reporters after the game.
