The Taos Blizzard picked up a win at Billy Mathews Field, knocking off the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 4-0. Starting pitcher Perry Groenendijk played a key role in the triumph. Groenendijk went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 10-5. Charlie Cruz notched his 21st save in 25 chances.

In the top of the first, Brent Driggs ambushed a 1-2 fastball from Juan Gonzales and hit a solo home run. It gave Taos a quick 1-0 lead.

"Perry did a tremendous job," said Taos manager Vincent Crockett.

The Blizzard improve their record to 74-79 with the win over St. Petersburg.
