Black Squirrels Clip Emeralds in Tight Contest
|
Eugene got a terrific performance from pitcher Franklin Cadonau, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tree City Black Squirrels. Tree City won the The Nut House contest, 2-1. Cadonau was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The Black Squirrels' win now puts them at 73-79.
Chris Huffman was the walk-off hero for Tree City. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Black Squirrels pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Huffman said.
