Vikings Edge Mustangs, 8-7
|
The San Angelo Mustangs got a sterling performance from catcher Kyle Higgins, but the Vikings still prevailed, 8-7. Higgins was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Steve King, who threw 91 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 7 hits. Jean-François Blot earned save number 19.
The Vikings got a big at-bat from shortstop Kazumi Inoue. For the game, Inoue went 1 for 5 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 7th triple of the season gave Victoria a 3-0 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Inoue. "And not try to do too much."
The Vikings improved to 61-88.
