Hornets Come Up Short at St. Petersburg
The St. Petersburg Pelicans bested the Bethesda Hornets by a score of 7-6, with designated hitter Masahiro Miura getting the main credit. On the day, Miura was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Pelicans. Kelly Livingston converted his 17th save in 25 tries. The Pelicans now own a record of 55-93.

The Pelicans got a big at-bat from left fielder Jim Roach. For the game, Roach was 1-5. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 85th hit of the season gave St. Petersburg a 5-4 lead.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said St. Petersburg manager Kurt Brumfield.
