Blizzard Win at Houston, 6-3
|
Taos and Houston duked it out at Woodland Park and the Blizzard came out victorious.
The Taos Blizzard topped the Houston Sting, 6-3, in Donnie Moore League action at Woodland Park. The player of the game was Taos pitcher Jose Fernandez. Fernandez, now 6-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. Charlie Cruz converted his 20th save in 24 tries.
The Blizzard got a big at-bat from right fielder Marty Clara. For the game, Clara was 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave Taos a 1-0 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Clara. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Taos currently is in third place in the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division at 71-74.
