Bush Wackers Turn Back Eugene, 6-4
|
Eugene catcher Miguel Guerra had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Guerra was 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Brisbane beat the Emeralds, 6-4. Guerra was named the player of the game despite the loss. Eddy Compres got the win, improving to 4-2. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Bob Chamberlain earned his 4th save in 10 chances.
Esteban Rivera went 1-5 for Brisbane. The 19-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Franklin Cadonau. It was his 4th RBI of the season.
"We take it day by day here," said Rivera, "and today was a good one for us."
With the win over Eugene, the Bush Wackers improved to 69-77.
