Penlee Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Chippewa River Chiefs and the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws.

The West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws got a superb performance from pitcher Andrew Welborn, but the Chippewa River Chiefs still won the game, 4-3. Welborn was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. The win was credited to Edwin Hodges in relief. His record improves to 4-0. John Swope took the loss. Anastasio Gómez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 9 save opportunities.

Jorge Marín's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from John Swope for a run-scoring single. It put Chippewa in front, 4-3.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Chippewa manager Eric Rice.

Chippewa has an impressive 97-46 record.
