The St. Petersburg Pelicans topped the Okanagan Lake Monsters by the score of 8-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to center fielder Juan Mendez. Mendez belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4 for the Pelicans on the day. The last-place Pelicans improved to 53-92.

Early in the game, Mendez had a 3-run home run for St. Petersburg. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Pelicans on top, 4-1.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Mendez.
