Emeralds Bang Out 6-3 Win Versus New Orleans
With right fielder Manny Vasquez leading the charge, the Eugene Emeralds defeated the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 6-3, at Prefontaine Park. Vasquez went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Fernando Guzmán got the win, improving to 13-6. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 6. Tatsuji Kudo notched his 21st save in 27 chances.

Travis O'Leary drew 1 walk for Eugene. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Dennis Hale. It was his 41st RBI of the season.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," O'Leary told the Eugene Observer.

The Emeralds bumped their record to 74-68 with this latest triumph.
