Extra-Inning Win by Kings over Panthers
|
The Atlantic City Kings topped the Charleston Panthers, 5-4, with youngster Simon Watkins playing a key role. Watkins was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Kings in the win. Atlantic City reliever Jeremy Jefferson picked up the win, upping his record to 8-5. Zach Hensler shouldered the loss. Tom Greer was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 43 of 47 save opportunities.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when third baseman Ron Gale hit a single. The Kings went on to win.
"This is a resilient bunch," said Atlantic City manager Wynn Decker.
Atlantic City leads the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division by 15½ games.
