Bonilla Goes Wild, But Cyclones Win
|
Bethesda designated hitter Guadalupe Bonilla was sensational. He went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Coney Island beat the Hornets, 5-4. Bonilla was named the player of the game despite the loss. Jalen DePass was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities. The Cyclones bumped their record to 76-65 with this latest triumph.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from first baseman Nick Ashburn. For the game, Ashburn was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 27th hit of the season gave Coney Island a 5-4 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Ashburn said.
