The Sting had to overcome a fine performance from New Orleans pitcher Arturo Corona to grab a 1-0 win at The Republic. Corona allowed no earned runs over 6 innings. Sam Thomas got the save, his 13th in 14 chances. Houston, now 76-65, holds third place in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division.

The Sting got a big at-bat from third baseman Gabe Jones. For the game, Jones was 1-1. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 84th hit of the season gave Houston a 1-0 lead.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Jones told the Houston Bulletin.
