Dancin' Outlaws Get One-Run Win at Kingwood
|
West Virginia left-hander Andrew Welborn helped his team edge Kingwood by the score of 1-0. Welborn kept the opposing lineup in check. Welborn went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-1. John Swope converted his 4th save in 5 tries.
The Dancin' Outlaws got a big at-bat from third baseman Jochen Derksen. For the game, Derksen was 2-4 with 2 singles. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 29th hit of the season gave West Virginia a 1-0 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Welborn said.
