The inspired effort of Barrow designated hitter Brian Douglas was not enough to prevent a 6-4 loss to the Eugene Emeralds. Douglas hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winner was Fernando Guzmán, who threw 101 pitches over 6.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits. Tatsuji Kudo notched his 20th save in 26 chances.
