The St. Paul Saints got a stellar performance from pitcher Danny Mendez, who handcuffed the Nichols offense en route to a 7-2 win at The Pond. The 5th-place Saints are now 64-71, the Gnats 49-83.

The Saints got a big at-bat from first baseman Seung-kab Choi. For the game, Choi was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave St. Paul a 4-1 lead.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Mendez.
