Multi-HR Day for Garnett as Dancin' Outlaws Overpower Mustangs, 6-5
|
The umbrellas came out during the West Virginia-San Angelo contest at Penlee Park.
The West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws topped the San Angelo Mustangs, 6-5, with youngster C.J. Garnett playing a key role. Garnett went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Dancin' Outlaws in the win. Andrew Welborn got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 6. John Swope notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the bottom of the third inning. That's when catcher Andy McKinney drew a walk. The Dancin' Outlaws went on to win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Garnett told the West Virginia Today.
West Virginia is now 61-70, while San Angelo is 86-49.
