The Eureka Hornets defeated the Kansas City Tornadoes, 6-4, at The Nest. Eureka left fielder Juan González was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Walt Lawson picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 7-2. The Hornets bumped their record to 32-31 with this latest triumph.
González contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Eureka in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, González took a fastball from Pero Donini and stroked the home run to left. His 12th home run of the season allowed the Hornets to leap in front, 3-1.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," González told the Eureka Today.
