Pelicans Win, Zarco has 3 hit night
|
Benefiting from Tony Zarco's productive game, the St. Petersburg Pelicans downed the Nichols Gnats, 10-5. Zarco was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Pelicans. Julio Uribe picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-3. Jon Vining was tagged with the loss. Even with the win, the Pelicans have a dismal 46-86 record.
Mike Brandt drew 2 walks for St. Petersburg. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jon Vining. It was his 9th walk of the season.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Zarco said after the game.
