Lake Monsters Win at Tree City, 4-2
|
The Okanagan Lake Monsters picked up a win at The Nut House, knocking off the Tree City Black Squirrels, 4-2. Starting pitcher Esteban García, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Dusty Mast was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 36 of 37 save opportunities. This win makes it 5 in a row for Okanagan.
Nelson Rodríguez went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Okanagan. The slick-fielding center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Roy Cohn. It was his 33rd walk of the season.
Tree City manager Ramón Guerrero said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
