Kings Drop Jedi Knights with Late Score
|
The New Orleans Jedi Knights got a superb performance from designated hitter David Eitel, but the Atlantic City Kings still won the game, 4-3. Eitel was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tom Greer was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 37 of 41 save opportunities. Atlantic City leads the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division by 13 games.
The Kings got a big at-bat from catcher Tom Sawyer. For the game, Sawyer went 1-4. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 77th hit of the season gave Atlantic City a 4-3 lead.
New Orleans manager Phillip Smith said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
