Kingwood beat Eugene in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The Kingwood Knights beat the Eugene Emeralds, 8-1, at Prefontaine Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Eric Head, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Adam Hirsch was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.

Early in the game, first baseman Manny de la Cruz had a run-scoring single for Kingwood. It was his 44th hit of the season and put the Knights on top, 1-0.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said de la Cruz.
