The Bethesda Hornets got a stellar performance from pitcher Manny de la Torre, who handcuffed the Charleston offense en route to a 4-1 win at Hornets Field. Bethesda is now 58-73, Charleston 55-76.
The Hornets got a big at-bat from shortstop Nick Corpus. For the game, Corpus went 2-4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 94th hit of the season gave Bethesda a 2-1 lead.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said de la Torre.
