Sting Get Close Win Over Gnats
|
The Nichols Gnats went down to defeat to Daniel Avery and his Houston teammates. The final score was 2-1 in favor of the Sting. Houston reliever Jesse Spence picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Ezra Bryan took the loss. The Sting bumped their record to 72-58 with this latest triumph.
Had Bobby Borawski not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Borawski hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Sting.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Avery said.
