The Houston Sting powered past the Nichols Gnats, 15-1, at The Pond. Matt Davidson hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 8, to lead the charge. The win was credited to Fernando Rodriguez in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Emilio Aguinaga took the loss. With the win, Houston has a record of 71-58. Nichols falls to 47-79.

Davidson contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Houston in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Davidson took a curveball from Emilio Aguinaga and stroked the home run to left. His 20th home run of the season allowed the Sting to leap in front, 4-1.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Sting manager Héctor Flores, "I like our chances."
