The Pelicans had to overcome a good performance from Brisbane pitcher Miguel Torres to claim a 5-3 win at Billy Mathews Field. Torres went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Even with the win, the Pelicans have a dismal 44-83 record.

The Pelicans got a big at-bat from right fielder Jim Roach. For the game, Roach went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 22nd double of the season gave St. Petersburg a 4-3 lead.
