Lake Monsters Win at Chippewa, 5-2
|
Okanagan Lake Monsters starter Mauricio Ayala turned in an exceptional performance against the Chippewa River Chiefs at The Reservation, resulting in a Okanagan win, 5-2. The Lake Monsters bumped their record to 68-58 with this latest triumph.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from right fielder Melvin Cruz. For the game, Cruz went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Okanagan a 2-0 lead.
"Mauricio's tempo and rhythm were good," said Lake Monsters manager Bhim Varuni. "He was the key to us winning."
