Victory Pushes Cyclones Record to 68-57
|
Coney Island played host to Charleston at the friendly confines of Coney Island Coliseum.
Benefiting from Josh Saake's productive game, the Coney Island Cyclones downed the Charleston Panthers, 5-1. Saake went 3-4 with 3 singles for the Cyclones. The winner was Coney Island reliever Troy Hampton, now 5-1. The loser was J.P. Frazier.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from designated hitter Oscar Saenz. For the game, Saenz was 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Coney Island a 3-1 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Coney Island manager Roger Fievet. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Cyclones bumped their record to 68-57 with this latest triumph.
