|
Westside withstood an impressive performance by Tree City designated hitter Mike Ray to defeat the Black Squirrels, 9-8, at The Nut House. Ray went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Pedro Luna got the win, improving to 4-1. He held the Black Squirrels to 5 earned runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Jesse Corson got the save, his 16th in 17 chances.
The Road Warriors got a big at-bat from left fielder Tony Maciel. For the game, Maciel went 1-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 27th double of the season gave Westside a 6-5 lead.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Maciel.
The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Road Warriors.
